The camera never leaves the room

Pose detection runs in your browser, on frames that stay in your browser. Nothing is recorded, nothing is uploaded, and no frame is kept after it has been measured.

Stopping the camera releases it — the browser's own indicator goes out with it.

The one request that does leave your machine

The first time you start the camera, the pose model is downloaded from Google's file host. That request tells their CDN your IP address and which file you asked for, the same as any download. It carries nothing about you, your session or your reps.

The runtime that uses the model is served by this site, not a CDN. After the first download the model is cached by the browser.

What is stored, and where

One key in this browser's localStorage, squat-counter/v1. It holds your daily rep and set totals, the workout you queued, any workouts you saved by name, your voice and beep preferences, notices you dismissed, and — while you're signed in — the email address you typed.

Clearing your browsing data deletes all of it. Nobody else has a copy, which also means nobody can restore it for you.

Accounts

There is no backend yet. Creating an account writes an email address into that same localStorage key and switches on the history views. It is not sent anywhere and it is not a login in any real sense.

When sync does arrive, this page is the first thing that changes, and it will say exactly what leaves the device.

Children

This isn't a service aimed at children, and since nothing is collected, nothing about a child is collected either.
